Catherine: You just hit "Play" on I Hate Talking About Myself. How chic. If you're a first-time listener, welcome. Come on in. Water is warm and it's full of your favorite Netflix stars interviewing themselves. This is a podcast where we write questions, throw them in a bowl, and have actors, comedians and filmmakers answer them. In this episode, our featured interviewer and interviewee is Allison Williams. You may know her as Marnie from HBO's Girls, Rose from Get Out or Kit Snicket in A Series of Unfortunate Events. And the list truly goes on and on and on, you guys. But which of her characters would she most want to get brunch with? You'll find out very soon.

Allison: I'm Allison Williams and I am about to interview myself. So here I go.

"Which character have you played that you most want to go to brunch with?" Oh-oh. "What would you talk about?" I feel like the most interesting to go to brunch with would be Kit Snicket who I played in A Series of Unfortunate Events. She's a badass. She is a sort of spy person. But she means well. She's very witty and quick.

Allison: With Kit, I would talk about, I don't know, multitasking, keeping secrets, discretion, you know, doing action while pregnant. That kind of stuff. She's a badass.

Let's see. "If you could have one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?" Pizza. That one's easy. The rest of my life would not be very long, but [laughs] at least I'd be really happy.

Okay. "What's your worst fashion mistake?" Oh, boy. Well, all of the worst fashion mistakes we've ever made are coming back to haunt us because I guess the nineties are coming back with a vengeance. I would say probably the argyle sweater vest I bought from Limited Too when I was in third grade. Not my best choice, but I wore it with all of the enthusiasm of someone who thought she was making an excellent choice for herself. Yeah, that was probably bad. Also, matching velour. I don't know why any of us thought that was a good idea. As I sit here in a matching two-piece thing.

"If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?" My answer, sleeping [lullaby plays]. If I could instantly become an expert in sleeping and just, you know, be able to sleep and do it regularly and nightly as most people do and for an acceptable amount of time, what a joy. I [laughs] can only imagine what it must feel like [laughs]. Or be able to sleep in places other than a bed would just be incredible. I watch those people head bobbing in public and I'm just, like, "Rock on. Do your thing. I'm so jealous."

Allison: "What's the one movie you watch over and over?" Okay. The one I watch most regularly would be Love, Actually only because we watch it every Christmas Eve as a family. And so there's, like, a standing re-watch date for that. And I also watch it periodically just at other times throughout the year. I also watch The Room every once in a while, which is such a delight. And thanks to The Disaster Artist, I feel like more people know about it.

Allison: "What's something you say you'll do but never will?" Oh, my gosh, I feel like there's so many of these. Start running regularly. I'm just never going to do it. And I just, I'm so enthusiastic about it whenever I say I'm going to. But it's just not going to happen, is it, because every time I start, I want to die immediately and then I stop and I walk, which is much more comfortable. So I think that's probably what it is, running at all or for long distances.

Let's see. "What's the story behind [laughs] your last Instagram post?" Okay. This one's really sad because I don't remember my last Instagram post because I'm so bad at posting on Instagram. I believe it was a post directly after the post that I made saying I was back on Instagram and I was going to do a better job of it. And that was months ago. Oh, oh, I actually remember it. I had just died my hair blond for the movie I just finished shooting. And that was what I was telling people was that I was blond, which felt like something everyone needed to know, I guess? I don't know. Explaining an Instagram feels like talking about a dream. It starts to stop making sense the more you talk about it. So I'm going to put that away.

Oh, "Where would you time travel to, year and place?" What a good question. I think about this all the time. It's not a year. It is vaguely Europe, I think. Although science might have just—we might have just changed the answer to this. But [drumming starts] I would love to go back to the time when humans, homo sapiens and homo Neandertalis [SIC], existed at the same time. I needed to know, like, what went down? How do I have some Neandertal, like, DNA in my body? That's fascinating. Were my deep, deep ancestors, like, "Listen, you're in another species, but we love each other and let's just make this work"? I need to know how it happened. And I would just love to be around, to be a fly on the wall while both were existing at the same time. Just be, like, what is this like? Yeah.

"What's your relationship with social media right now?" [Four dings] I pretend it doesn't exist and then I have huge guilt for not engaging with it. I feel very distant from social media at the moment.

Last one: "Tell us five reasons we should watch your Netflix film." Okay. Five reasons you should watch our Netflix film which is called The Perfection. One reason would be Logan Browning who is my co-star in the movie and is so phenomenal and is so talented and delivers an incredible performance. So definitely, that's one of the reasons to watch it.

The second reason to watch it is cello. If you've ever wondered whether or not Logan and I can play cello, the answer is kind of. And you can watch us playing it. The best we ever got is captured in the movie, so that's a second reason. The third reason I will say is if you've ever gotten sick while traveling, it will make you feel better about that experience because there's no way it's as touch and go as this one is. And that's all I can say.

The fourth one is watch it because it will be spoiled for you, if you don't see it, by someone talking about it. And that's a terrible feeling. And the fifth reason is because, at least speaking for myself, I like watching movies where I'm not sure—I think I know what's going on, but I'm wrong until the very end. And our movie definitely fits into that category. If you paused it at any given moment and turned to the person you're watching with and said, "Okay. Here's what I think is happening," I'm almost positive you're going to be wrong. It's impossible for you to be right at a certain point.

So those are five reasons to watch The Perfection.
