Parker Posey What piece of pop culture shaped you the most?
Parker Posey I'd say it's the independent film scene in the 90s. But of course, when you say pop culture, you think of Andy Warhol and how he kind of shaped so much. I just saw the Warhol-Basquiat show upstate in Kinderhook. It was incredible. I felt like Basquiat was my boyfriend of the summer because I was so inspired by that show. He's so good.
Parker Posey If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be? Oh, my God. Well, science. I like hearing about black holes. I like those science shows. Anything that gives me kind of perspective and that kind of mind to be able to understand that, because I don't cos I'm a totally different person. But I also like the Earth and biology or I mean, I like to garden. I'd like to know how all of that works. Yeah.
Parker Posey Asa Butterfield asks, What's your favorite color socks? I like a multicolored sock. I have a pair that are like purple and maroon with some green. And they're a pair of socks my friend Jason gave me because he washed them too many times and they got smaller. See how fascinating this is? On the edge of your seat. This is great.
Parker Posey If you got trapped with no reception, and you only five songs your phone, what would you hope they were? I like ambient music, I guess. Let's go with "Music for Airports", the Brian Eno record. Back when we called them records.
Parker Posey What's the story behind your last Instagram post? I babysit my neighbors Scottish Highlander cow who's on my property and I've been getting fruit from this Mennonite family farm stand. Their overgrown stuff or whatever they have. And so I feed the bull, Rory, and I love watching him eat. He's got a big tongue, big sandpaper tongue, and he's hilarious.
Parker Posey How do you define art? I think art is anything that you see that moves you in ways that you can't fully express, but that touch your heart and your soul and kind of brings your imagination to a certain kind of poetry that you can always go back to whenever you look at the thing or that, you know, is something that is beautiful and soulful or and or true and that everyone else can see the same thing and feel the same feeling. That's how I would define it.
